Domestic retrofit · Whole-house approach

Retrofit of Dwellings

EAC South West helps homeowners, designers and builders plan and verify energy-efficient upgrades — from baseline assessments to post-works testing. We align with PAS 2035 principles and coordinate related Part L/F items so you get practical, buildable advice.

  • PAS 2035 aligned
  • SAP/EPC integration
  • Airtightness & ventilation testing
  • Pragmatic, cost-effective options

What is retrofit?

Retrofitting means adding modern, energy-efficient measures to homes built without them — cutting running costs and reducing environmental impact. It’s a key part of the UK’s strategy to lower emissions by improving the performance of existing dwellings.

Before & after. We can assess the current property (if no assessment exists) and model projected performance once retrofit measures are installed.

Process

A clear, three-step approach

  1. 1) Baseline & targets

We review the dwelling, any SAP/EPC data, and your goals to set realistic targets for comfort, energy and cost.

  2. 2) Practical specification

We outline coordinated, fabric-first measures (insulation, airtightness, thermal bridges), efficient services and ventilation.

  3. 3) Verify & optimise

We incorporate airtightness and ventilation testing results and refine the design for the best overall outcome.

PAS 2035 — a whole-house approach

PAS 2035 governs the retrofit process for improved energy efficiency. It considers the home, local environment, occupancy and your objectives to select suitable measures and avoid unintended consequences.

  • Measures are coordinated, not applied in isolation
  • Focus on fabric, services, ventilation and moisture risk
  • Improves comfort, efficiency and long-term durability

Retrofit – FAQs

Do I need PAS 2035?

Where formal schemes or funding require it, PAS 2035 defines roles and a process. We align our advice to whole-house principles so measures are coordinated and risks are managed.

Can retrofit be staged?

Yes. We can plan a sequence of measures so you get early wins while keeping the whole-house outcome in mind.

Will you coordinate with SAP/EPC?

Absolutely. We integrate with SAP/EPC work so the paperwork and numbers are consistent end-to-end.

Do you cover the South West?

Yes — we’re based in Penzance and serve Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset.
